Dizziness & Vertigo
Dizziness and vertigo can stop people in their tracks, and oftentimes leave them feeling stuck.
Chiropractic care can be an effective tool to help alleviate the intrusive symptoms of these conditions by addressing the root causes typically caused by joints and muscles of the neck.
Understanding Dizziness, vertigo and Chiropractic
The causes of vertigo and dizziness for many people are benign in nature and come from the joints and soft tissues of the neck. By targeting precise and specific treatments to the joints of the neck, I can help relieve and directly treat joint dysfunction which is a major contributor to these symptoms.
This can have a profound effect on the acute soft tissue symptoms in the affected area and have an upstream effect relieving symptoms.
Treatment approach
Both low force and hands on manipulative treatments can be effective in treating the sources of vertigo. Both treatment styles can be direct and precise thus resulting in a positive change for the region. In addition to manipulative therapies, muscle work is especially important to help relieve the acute soft tissue symptoms that are often a major contributing factor. Pin and stretching and even soft tissue work around the TMJ can be implemented and helpful.
In the case that patients present with what is known as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or (BPPV), chiropractic care not only helps relieve joint dysfunction in the area and treat the acute soft tissue response, but also helps move around the crystals that are often stalled in the inner ear which is causing the vertigo. I can also implement what is known as an epley’s maneuver that is effective in dislodging these crystals.
